Atravo
An all-in-one booking platform that let tour and activity businesses take direct bookings and skip 20% marketplace commissions.
Project Overview
Direct bookings, managed in one place
Atravo gave tour, experience, and activity businesses a way to accept bookings from their own websites and manage the operation in one dedicated platform. The opportunity came from owners being locked into high commission fees from marketplaces such as Airbnb and Tripadvisor.

The Problem
High fees, fragmented tools, and no ownership of customer data
Many operators paid around 20% commission to third-party marketplaces, then assembled several additional tools just to accept a single direct booking. The result was cost, complexity, and limited control over customer relationships.

The Solution
One platform for bookings and business management
We designed a direct-booking experience for customers and a centralized operating system for owners, covering availability, products, orders, and day-to-day management.

Research
Interviews, personas, and the end-to-end booking flow
Interviews with operators became practical personas and journey maps. Card sorting and flow mapping helped us define a product architecture that could remain simple for small teams while supporting more complex businesses.

Design & MVP
From wireframes to a testable product
Wireframes established the operational model before high-fidelity mockups brought the guest and owner experiences together. Usability testing kept the MVP focused on the workflows that mattered most.

Results
Pre-seed funding and steady organic growth
Atravo enabled operators to sell directly without high marketplace commissions. The product secured pre-seed investment and, after public launch, grew its organic user base by 15% month over month.
